How to evaluate Dynamic Range without a chart

We usually use gray charts or pattern charts to evaluate Dynamic range of image sensors, however this solution is not perfect for features of charts and light sources.

Even though charts have sophisticated patterns, dedicated colors on itself, it should be lighten by light source such as a surface LED light box, which means patterns on a chart are effected one  another by transmitting lights from the light sources. Also even though light sources have strong enough to irradiate stable lights to a transparent chart. Therefore we cannot say that using charts is completely accurate evaluation for DR and relative factors.

LSB-0303HDR-2415 was developed by considering about this problem.

This light source box has 24 cells of different brightness lights, which can be controlled individually to change each cell’s brightness. In addition to this, each cells are surrounded by matted walls not to effect one another by their lights. It is designed for evaluations of OECF/ gamma curve, SNR, VN(visual noise), noise, temporal noise and DR.

Its specifications are 150dB, max.145,000cd/㎡, 16:9 aspect ratio and so on.
